Cancun and Isla Mujeres May 5th to the 12th

I love my job!  Early this Spring I had an opportunity to do a FAM trip to Cancun.  It was sponsored by the Cancun Tourism Board.  I had never stayed in Cancun, so I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to learn about the area first hand.

I arrived in Cancun early in the afternoon on May 5th.  I checked into The Gran Caribe Royal.  It is an all inclusive resort.  They gave me a beautiful suite all to myself.

After I got settled in I took off to the pool, and ran into two other people that were on the FAM.  We later met the whole group for drinks and dinner at the Royal Caribe next door.  It is a new adult’s only all-inclusive resort.

The next morning after breakfast we were off to a tour of the Tulum ruins.  They always amaze me.  Our next stop was at Xel-Ha Park.  It is a snorkel park, with river rafting and lots of other activities.  They offer an all-inclusive package for the park that includes meals, snorkel gear and tubes.  We had a great time.

Then we back to the hotel to clean up and change for dinner.  Our dinner was hosted by Hacienda El Mortero.  It is a Mexican restaurant with great food.

After breakfast on Monday morning we had educational seminars that reviewed the Cancun area and many of the hotels.  Then off to hotel inspections.  We toured The Royal Caribe, Great Parnassus, Le Meridien and ME by Melia.  For dinner that night we were hosted by one of the nicest restaurants that I have ever been to La Madonna.  It is an Italian Restaurant, I can’t say enough about the service or the food.

On Tuesday we all met in the lobby to go to the Marina.  I was in the group that took the jet boats through the lagoon and out to the reef to snorkel.

The other half of our group went out to the reef on jet skis.  I even went snorkeling!  I had a great time.  After a quick trip back to the hotel to change it was Lunch at the Hyatt and an inspection tour of the hotel.  It is a very upscale European plan hotel.  Then it was off to the Mercados (market) for shopping.  We were then transferred back to the hotel to get ready for dinner at Buba Grumps.  After dinner we went to Coco Bongo Nightclub.  It is a younger crowd that usually goes there, but we 26-70 year olds did make an appearance.  The show is great it is a little like Cique du Soleil.

Wednesday was our check out day.   We had a great time!  I met a lot of nice people and learn so much about Cancun.

I met my husband at the airport in Cancun.  We decided to meet and spend a few days on Isla Mujeres for our anniversary.  It was a great place to relax and celebrate!
